The Balance-Flow system is complete with modified coolant crossover manifold / thermostat housing and is ready to bolt onto the 1996 single thermostat engine. The Balance-Flow system is designed to correct the poor coolant flow condition that exists in the 6.5. Poor coolant flow through the block and heads causes very high operating temperatures in the rear portion of the block and central to rear portions of the cyl heads. These unequal temperatures create undue heat-stress conditions that can lead to cracking/breaking of castings. By creating proper coolant flow through the block and heads, the Balance-Flow system eliminates localized high temperature areas reducing heat-stress in these castings to help prevent cracking and breaking. The Balance-Flow system upgrade provides an improvement that is vital to those engines used in towing applications. Combined with our Severe-Duty fan drive, the Balance-Flow system provides far more effective engine coolant temperature control even with the factory standard volume water pump and single thermostat.
